Carlo Apartment Management Company would like to help make your move less stressful. Here is a simple moving guide to help with your move. Organizing and preparing weeks ahead will decrease your chances of overlooking important items.

Change of Address
Pick up a Change-of-Address Kit from the Post Office. Also notify the address change with family, friends, banks, insurance companies, doctors, creditor, employers, etc.

Weed through the clutter
Take a look around your home. Start to think about what you don't want to take with you.

Make arrangement to store, sell or give away to a charity.

Prepare a list of what you want to move.

Contact Moving Companies
Contact moving companies for written estimates or for do-it-yourself moves, make arrangements for a truck rental, moving help, and buy packing supplies.

Organizing Boxes
While packing boxes mark clearly as to the contents and the room to be placed in. Mark
"Open First" clearly on boxes containing important items that you want to unpack first.

Schools
Contact your child's new school and notify them of your upcoming move to their area.

Relocation Package
Contact the Chamber of Commerce in your new city to request a relocation package.

Pack your vital documents in one place (Passports, other personal records, etc.)

Utilities
Make arrangements to disconnect your utilities. Get refunds for any deposits made. Have the meters read and give your new address for them to send their final bill.
Make arrangements to connect utilities at your new residence.

Check with your insurance company about transferring coverage to your new home.

Delivery
If you're using a moving company make sure the moving van driver has the correct address, phone number, directions and confirm the delivery
